Terms of service · 13 July 2026

Shared standards. Clear boundaries.

These Terms govern Obsidian Capital Group's public website, member portal, official Discord spaces, and organised in-game activities.

Effective 13 July 2026

The agreement at a glance.

Obsidian Capital Group is an unofficial, non-commercial UK player community administered by individuals. It is not presented as an incorporated company.

You must be at least 18 years old to register or participate in OCG community services. Registration creates a website account only; it does not make you an OCG member or guarantee access to private spaces.

Acceptance of these Terms forms the community-services agreement. Our Privacy Notice separately explains how personal information is used; acknowledging that notice is not consent to every processing activity.

Agreement and scope

One standard across OCG spaces.

These Terms apply wherever OCG administrators provide or organise the community service.

When the Terms apply

By creating an account, accepting an invitation, joining an official OCG Discord space, or taking part in an OCG-organised in-game activity, you agree to these Terms. Relevant website-use provisions also apply while you browse public pages.

If you do not agree, do not register for or participate in those services. Platform-specific rules and event instructions may add reasonable requirements, but they do not replace these Terms.

Who “we” means

“OCG”, “we”, “us”, and “our” mean the administrators of Obsidian Capital Group acting for this volunteer-run community. “You” means the person using or participating in an OCG service.

OCG currently charges no fee and offers no real-money, financial, logistics, security, employment, or professional service.

Eligibility and accounts

Adults only. One accountable identity.

Account registration and organisation membership are separate decisions.

18+ eligibility

You must be 18 or over when you register and throughout participation. You must provide an honest age confirmation. We may restrict or close access if that confirmation appears false or cannot reasonably be relied upon.

Account security

Keep authentication methods secure, use your own account, and promptly report suspected unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account where that is reasonable in the circumstances.

Registration is not membership

A Clerk account provides an identity for the website. OCG membership, verification, roles, ranks, division access, and invitations are governed separately and may require human review. None is guaranteed by registration or application submission.

Code of Conduct

Protect the people, the service, and the game.

Context matters, but the following conduct is not permitted in OCG spaces or activity.

Respect other people

  • Harassment, bullying, stalking, targeted abuse, or unwanted intimidation.
  • Hate speech or discriminatory abuse based on a protected or personal characteristic.
  • Credible threats, encouragement of violence or self-harm, or glorification of targeted harm.
  • Doxxing, sharing private information without authority, or coercive attempts to obtain it.
  • Impersonation, deceptive identity claims, fraud, spam, or disruptive unsolicited promotion.

Protect systems and fair play

  • Content that infringes intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or other legal rights.
  • Malware, malicious links, destructive files, phishing, or content intended to compromise another person.
  • Cheats, hacks, prohibited exploits, or other conduct that violates applicable game or platform rules.
  • Scraping, automated collection, probing, denial-of-service activity, security attacks, or attempts to bypass controls.
  • Unauthorised access to accounts, records, restricted channels, administration tools, or infrastructure.

Follow reasonable safety, communications, and coordination instructions for an organised activity. Competitive disagreement, role-play, or in-game conflict does not excuse conduct that breaches these standards.

Reports and moderation

Action should be proportionate and reviewable.

We may act to protect members, community integrity, systems, or legal rights.

Reporting

Use available in-service report controls or email the public contact below for conduct reports, safety concerns, intellectual-property takedown requests, or suspected security issues. Include only the information reasonably needed to investigate.

Possible action

Depending on context and severity, we may preserve evidence, remove or limit content, issue guidance or a warning, restrict a feature or event, suspend access, revoke membership privileges, or close an OCG profile. Urgent protective measures may be taken before a full review.

Review requests

You may request a review of an access or moderation decision through the public contact email. Give the decision, relevant account or event, and why you believe it should change. Where practicable, someone not responsible for the original decision will consider the request.

Member content

Your work stays yours.

OCG receives only the limited permission needed to run and moderate the community services.

Ownership and responsibility

You retain ownership of messages, profile text, images, operation materials, reports, and other content you submit. You must have the rights and permissions needed to share it, and it must comply with these Terms.

Limited operating licence

You grant the OCG administrators a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, transmit, display, format, and moderate that content only as needed to operate, secure, and administer the community services. This includes allowing contracted hosting providers to perform those same functions for us.

The licence is not permission to sell your content or use it for unrelated commercial promotion. It ends when the content is no longer needed for those purposes, subject to proportionate backup, audit, moderation, dispute, and legal retention described in the Privacy Notice.

Fictional community systems

Fictional records have no cash value.

Portal labels may borrow the language of organisations and finance, but they describe game-community administration only.

No purchase or redemption

Ranks, badges, contracts, reimbursements, escrow, credits, currencies, account balances, and ledger entries are fictional community records. They cannot be bought from OCG, sold to OCG, withdrawn, redeemed for money or property, or transferred outside the community system.

They do not create employment, partnership, agency, fiduciary duties, investment rights, or a real-world contract for goods or services.

Governance and correction

Authorised administrators may approve, reject, correct, reverse, suspend, revoke, or annotate these fictional records under documented community roles and governance. We preserve appropriate history so a correction is not presented as a real financial transaction.

Third parties and intellectual property

OCG operates alongside independent services.

Third-party availability, rules, and intellectual property remain under their owners' control.

Third-party platforms

Clerk, Discord, Cloud Imperium Games and Roberts Space Industries, and our hosting, database, and email providers operate independent services under their own terms and privacy notices. We do not control their accounts, moderation, game changes, availability, or data practices.

Your ability to use an OCG feature may depend on continued lawful access to one of those services. See our Privacy Notice for provider and processing details.

Intellectual property and fan status

OCG-created site copy, visual identity, code, and community materials are owned by or licensed to their respective creators. These Terms do not transfer those rights to you beyond ordinary personal use of the services.

Star Citizen, Squadron 42, Roberts Space Industries, Cloud Imperium, and related game content and marks belong to the relevant Cloud Imperium group entities. OCG is an unofficial fan community and is not endorsed by or affiliated with them.

Availability and responsibility

A volunteer service, provided with reasonable care.

Community services change with volunteer capacity, providers, and the game itself.

Availability and information

We may maintain, change, pause, or discontinue a feature or activity. We do not promise uninterrupted, error-free, or permanently available service. Community guidance and fictional records are not financial, legal, security, medical, employment, or other professional advice.

Liability boundaries

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or mandatory statutory and consumer rights.

To the extent the law allows, the administrators are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss, loss of fictional balances or game progress, third-party outages or decisions, game changes, or events outside reasonable control. This does not remove responsibility for foreseeable loss directly caused by our breach of these Terms or failure to use reasonable care where the law requires it.

Closure and changes

Access can end; necessary history can remain.

Closing an account and deleting every record are not always the same operation.

Suspension and closure

You may close your Clerk account using its controls and may contact us about the separate OCG profile. We may suspend or close access for a material or repeated breach, security risk, loss of eligibility, legal requirement, or discontinuation of the service. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and available review route.

Closure does not create cash or compensation rights and does not require us to falsify or erase immutable operational, fictional-ledger, moderation, or security history that must reasonably remain. The Privacy Notice explains retention and legal rights.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when services, community governance, or law changes. The current version and effective date will be posted here. We will take reasonable steps to highlight material changes before or when they take effect where appropriate.

Continued use after an updated version takes effect means acceptance where the law permits. If a change requires a fresh express agreement, we will ask for one before the affected service is used.

Law and contact

Questions have a public route.

Use the same monitored contact for legal questions, reports, takedown requests, security concerns, and access-review requests.

England and Wales law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, except that this does not remove any mandatory legal protection or right to use local courts that you cannot lawfully waive in the place where you live.

Public contact

Identify the account, event, content, or decision involved, but do not send unrelated sensitive information.
